Iolanta – Estonian National Opera chorus 110

On Thursday, March 31, the Estonian National Opera chorus will celebrate its 110th anniversary with a concert performance of Tchaikovsky's opera "Iolanta".

The chorus, established at the beginning of the second decade of the 20th century as an amateur choir of the Estonia Society, has grown into a professional opera choir, which has participated in hundreds of musical performances and dozens of concerts both in Estonia and abroad.

Tchaikovsky's last opera, "Iolanta", is based on the poetry of the Danish poet Henrik Hertz, The Daughter of King René, which tells the story of the life and love of a young princess, Yolande de Lorraine, who lived in the 15th century.

Soloists: Mirjam Mesak (Bavarian State Opera), Valentyn Dytiuk (Ukraine), Stanislav Kuflyuk (Ukraine / Poland), Priit Volmer, Rauno Elp, Reigo Tamm, Raiko Raalik, July Lill, Janne Shevchenko, Karis Trass.

The conductor is Arvo Volmer.
