Last week, ballet artists of the Estonian National Ballet, Akane Ichii, Marcus Nilson and Nikos Gkentsef received the title of demi-soloist. These are dancers who have proven themselves as ballet artists and are ready to perform enjoyable solo roles!

Akane Ichii trained in Zurich Dance Academy (2008–2012). She was a dancer with Bucharast National Opera (2012–2017, promoted to soloist in 2014) as well as Czech National Ballet (2017–2018, demi-soloist). She joined the Estonian National Ballet in 2018.

Marcus Nilson studied at Tallinn Ballet School (2012–2018) and joined the Estonian National Ballet after graduation. In 2022, he was awarded the Annual Estonian Theatre Award in Ballet category for Farmhand’s role in Tubin’s ballet “The Goblin” and for Karenin’s role in Kesler’s “Anna Karenina”.

Nikos Gkentsef studied in Vaganova Ballet Academy and in Nonna’s dance studio in Athens. He joined the Estonian National Ballet in 2018.

Congratulations!
