
Alberto Nanetti

Alberto Nanetti graduated in 1987 with honours in piano from the Conservatory “G. Frescobaldi” in Ferrara with Professor Giovanna Musiani: 10 with honours and special mention from the Commission. He then studied composition in Bologna and Padua and, at the same time, attended a two-year piano specialization course with Maestro G. Agosti at the Music Academy of Siena, following Maestro F. Ferrara's course in orchestral conducting.
Throughout his career, he has conducted many of the most prestigious orchestras in Italy and internationally: I Pomeriggi Musicali in Milan, Sinfonica di Roma, Orchestra of Arena di Verona, Arturo Toscanini in Parma, Sinfonica di Milano, Filarmonica Italiana in Piacenza, Zagreb Orchestra, Nuova Cameristica in Milan, Cordoba Philharmonic Orchestra (Argentina), the National Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, the Orchestra of Teatro San Carlo in Naples, and the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra in Prague.
His concert career began in 1983 as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, collaborating with theatres such as the Teatro Nuovo in Turin and the Soloists of Teatro Comunale in Bologna. In 1990, he wrote the soundtrack for Antonio Carella's film “Incontro ai giorni.” That same year, he joined the Teatro alla Scala as Coach of Corpo di Ballo. He was then called to the Arena di Verona for the production of “Romeo e Giulietta” with Carla Fracci. In 1992, his compositions were performed in Europe, Japan, and the United States during the celebrations for the “500th anniversary of the discovery of America”. In 1993, he conducted the premiere of his composition “Fantasia” for three soloists and orchestra at the Teatro “G. Borgatti” in Cento (FE). In 1995, he composed music for Gillian Whittingham's company for the ballet “I Miti,” performed at the Teatro Ponchielli in Cremona, the Versiliana, the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, and the Teatro Manzoni in Milan. In 1996, his composition “Miraggio” for trumpet and piano was performed for the first time at the Zagreb Biennale, then he opened the season at the Teatro G. Borgatti in Cento, conducting the Zagreb Orchestra and several ballets with étoile Luciana Savignano. He is Artistic Director, creator, and conductor of the first edition of the opera and ballet festival “All'Opera” held at the Castello Sforzesco in Vigevano (PV), where he conducts the “Galà Verdiano” (presented by Katia Ricciarelli and Pippo Baudo), the performances of “Rigoletto” and the ballet “Giselle” with the Arena di Verona Ballet Company. Among the artists involved were Pietro Ballo, Giorgio Zancanaro, Alexander Asimov, Fiorenza Cossotto, Giancarlo Cecchele, and Anna Tomowa Sintow. In 1999, he organized and conducted a symphonic opera concert for the Italian Embassy in Luxembourg with soprano Katia Ricciarelli and the Verona Arena Philharmonic Orchestra, of which he was also artistic director. That same year, he conducted an opera gala in Torre d'Isola (PV) with Katia Ricciarelli as guest. In 2002, he conducted “Cavalleria Rusticana” and a “Gala” with baritone Ambrogio Maestri. In 2005, he conducted the “Dance Gala” dedicated to Rudolf Nureyev with Maximiliano Guerra as guest. Since 2006, he has devoted himself mainly to teaching and composition, limiting himself to conducting mainly his own compositions, including “Alice in Wonderland”, choreographed by Gianluca Schiavoni, which he conducted in the world premiere at the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples in 2017. In 2019, he composed the music for the ballet “Delirium”, choreographed by Matteo Gavazzi, staged in Milan in 2019 and in Creiova in 2020. In 2021, he conducted the Bohemian Symphony Orchestra of Prague in a symphonic concert at the Smetana Hall of the Municipal House with music by Mozart, Prokofiev, Strauss, Mendelssohn, Tchaikovsky, Grieg, Brahms, Bizet, Dvořák, and Smetana. He is currently Coach of the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company in Milan.
Main orchestral conducting
In 1993, he conducted the premiere of his composition “Fantasia”, for three soloists and string orchestra, at the Teatro G. Borgatti in Cento (FE). In 1996, he opened the season at the Teatro G. Borgatti in Cento, conducting the Zagreb Orchestra and several ballets with Étoile Luciana Savignano. In 1997, he conducted the orchestra for the ballets of the Teatro alla Scala: “La vedova allegra” at the Teatro Lirico in Milan with the Milan Symphony Orchestra. In 1998, he conducted the Teatro alla Scala on its Italian tour of the ballet Giselle, choreographed by Mats Ek. In 1998 and 1999, he conducted the Christmas Concert at the Teatro Fraschini in Pavia with singers from the Accademia del Teatro alla Scala. In 1999, he conducted the Arena di Verona Philharmonic Orchestra in an opera-symphony concert for the Italian Embassy in Luxembourg with the participation of soprano Katia Ricciarelli. In 1999 and 2000, he conducted Charles Gounod's “Messe Solennelle Sainte Cecilie” at Milan Cathedral, with Katia Ricciarelli as guest performer.
In 2000, he conducted P. Mascagni's “Cavalleria Rusticana” and the world premiere of D. Morlino's “Leyla” at the Teatro dell'Arte in Milan. Also in 2000, at the Mantua Festival, he conducted the classical version of “Giselle” with the Teatro alla Scala Ballet Company and soloist Roberto Bolle. In 2001, on the occasion of the Verdi Year, he conducted several concerts in Mexico (Aguascalientes) and the opera “Rigoletto” at the Lecco Opera Festival, as well as opera excerpts at the Basilica of Sant'Ambrogio in Milan and the Catholic University of Milan, with the participation of soprano Katia Ricciarelli. In the same year, he conducted “Rigoletto” at the Copenhagen Festival and recorded Gounod's “Messe Solennelle Sainte Cecilie” on DVD at the Sanctuary of Caravaggio. In 2002, he conducted the ballet “Don Quixote” at the Teatro Filarmonico in Verona with the Arena di Verona Ballet Company and Orchestra. In 2005, he was the conductor for the “Dance Gala” dedicated to Nureyev, with Maximiliano Guerra as guest performer.
