EDUCATION AND WORKAngelos Samartzis studied singing and music theory at the Athenaeum Conservatory, as well as law at the University of Athens. He received his bachelor in opera singing from the Institute for Music Theater of the University of Music Karlsruhe, where he studied with Stephan Kohlenberg and Julia Varady. He continued his education as a Master’s student at the University of Music Hanns Eisler Berlin with Stephan Rügamer and Julia Varady. He attended master classes under Raina Kabaivanska, Franco Farina, Jane Henschel, Cheryl Studer, Robert Dean Smith, Marlis Petersen, David L. Jones, Brian Zeger and Wolfram Rieger. He has been a guest singer at Saarland State Theatre, Braunschweig State Theatre, Halle Opera House, Wroclaw Opera, Bolshoi Theatre of Belarus in Minsk, Music Theatre in the Ruhr among others. During the season 2016/2017, he was a member of the ensemble of the Theater Nordhausen. Since August 2017, he is member of the ensemble of the Saarland State Theater in Saarbrücken.
