EDUCATION AND WORK
Lauri Vasar studied singing at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. In 2002–2007, he was a member of the ensemble at Landestheater Linz and Staatsoper Hannover, where he appeared in numerous leading baritone roles. In 2009–2015, he was the member of the Hamburg State Opera. Important guest engagements have taken the internationally successful artist among other places to the Teatro Real in Madrid, the Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Berlin State Opera, Zurich Opera House, the Salzburg Festival, Royal Opera in London, Teatro alla Scala, among others.

German Theatre Award “The Faust” as the best singer of the year 2011 for the title role in Britten’s “Billy Budd” at Deutsche Oper am Rhein. Georg Ots Award (2020) for his excellent vocal mastery, exceptional stage presence and expressiveness as well as creating varied roles in world renowned theatres and in Estonia: Figaro (Mozart’s “Le nozze di Figaro”), Wolfram (Wagner’s “Tannhäuser”, both in the Estonian National Opera) and the title role in Mozart’s “Don Giovanni” at Birgitta Festival).
