EDUCATION AND WORK
Albert-André Lheureux is a stage director and a theatre manager. He founded the Théâtre de l’Esprit Frappeur at Brussels when he was 18. Soon he was appointed artistic and technical director of Forest National, the Brussels Sports and Culture Centre. In Belgium, he also founded and managed the Théâtre du Jardin Botanique and the Théâtre du Résidence Palace. In 1963, he started a theatre movement in Brussels called “Jeune Théâtre” (Young Theatre); he himself kept acting for ten years.
He has staged more than 70 drama productions and around 60 operas in theatres of numerous countries.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
He has received many awards: among them, the International Grand Prix at the Brazilian Short Film Festival for his film “Possession du Condamné” that was inspired by Jean Genet’s poetry and the Grand Prix of the Belgian Society of Authors. In France, he was awarded Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (The Order of Arts and Letters).

Albert-André Lheureux has also produced grand open air performances in Belgium, Spain, Cyprus and Sweden. For three seasons, 2000, 2001, 2002, he was an artistic advisor to the Pafos Aphrodite Opera Festival in Cyprus.
Albert-André Lheureux has taught interpretation at the National Theatre School of Canada and at the Diffusion Arts Institute of Belgium (I.A.D.) where he also was, for a time, coordinator of the theatre section. He is also a successful author of several books and theatre adaptations.
