
Clairemarie Osta

Clairemarie Osta won the First Prize of the CNSMDP in Christiane Vaussard’s class in 1987. She joined the corps de ballet of the Paris Opera the following year, after having studied at the Paris Opera dance school. Quickly noticed for her talent, she was promoted to coryphée in 1989 after performing variations from “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Suite en blanc”, and to the rank of sujet in 1990. In 1994, she won the bronze medal at the Varna International Ballet Competition. In 1997, she was awarded the AROP Public Prize. In 1999, Osta was promoted to première danseuse for her excerpts from “Swan Lake” and “Grand Pas Classique”. She was named étoile on December 29, 2002, following a performance of “Paquita” (choreographed by Pierre Lacotte after Marius Petipa).
On May 13, 2012, she bid farewell to the stage during the final performance of “L’Histoire de Manon” of the 2011/2012 season at the Opéra Garnier. A 50-minute documentary titled “Les Adieux” was made for the occasion. In 2013, Clairemarie Osta became the director of dance studies at the Paris Conservatory for a year. Engaging closely with dancers, she has taught at the Rome Opera Ballet, Boston Ballet, Royal Swedish Ballet, John Cranko School, and Finnish Ballet School. Today, she continues to pursue her dreams by adding to her choreographic experience “L’autre moitié du songe...” (text by Alicia Gallienne, music by Simon Bång). She continues learning and has become a certified MUNZ FLOOR® training coach. Clairemarie Osta is a Chevalier of the Légion d’Honneur, Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters, and Officer of the National Order of Merit.
