EDUCATION AND WORKCosmin Ifrim studied singing and conducting at the Music Academy in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). After winning many important competitions, he was engaged by the Vienna State Opera in 2000, where he first sang Lord Cecil within a new production of Donizetti’s “Roberto Devereux” with Edita Gruberova. His major breakthrough at Vienna State Opera was the premiere of “Falstaff” in 2003, in which he sang the role of Fenton. He has appeared in many leadin houses and festivals, such as Bayerische Staatsoper, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, Opera Roma, ABAO Bilbao, Sapporo Festival, Savonlinna Festival, Gregenz Festival among others. Cosmin Ifrim has collaborated with many of the world’s most important conductors including Riccardo Muti, Zubin Mehta, Fabio Luisi, Seiji Ozawa, Christian Thielemann, Donald Runnicles, Ulf Schirmer, Vjekoslav Šutej, Franz Welser-Möst, Marcello Viotti and Richard Hickox.
