EDUCATION AND WORK
Ian Spinetti began his vocal studies at the Brasília Music School with Francisco Frias. He came to Europe for his first singing projects after being selected by the International Choir Academy in Lübeck. In 2015, he was accepted as a soloist for the first International Residency at the Lyrical Opera of Chicago, where he studied with Craig Terry and Julia Faulkner, and later received further artistic guidance in masterclasses with Marcel Boone and Margret Hoonig. From 2016 to 2019, he studied at the Leopold Mozart Centre Augsburg, and from 2019 at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Prof. Rachel Robins. Spinetti made his operatic debut in 2019 as Jaquino (Beethoven’s “Fidelio”) at Burg Gars Opera, returning there as Pedrillo (Mozart’s “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, 2021) and Remendado (Bizet’s “Carmen”, 2022). In 2021, he also debuted at Theater Kiel (Kats-Chernin’s “Jim Button and Lukas, the Locomotive Driver”) and at Aalto Musiktheater Essen as the first Sailor in Purcell’s “Dido and Aeneas”.
Since the 2022/23 season, he has been a member of the ensemble at Theater Bremen, where he has expanded into major lyric and spinto roles.
