Jaak Jõekallas
(tenor)
Jaak Jõekallas graduated from Tallinn Pedagogical University in the field of Bibliography in 1993 and Georg Ots Tallinn Music School (1995, teacher Henn Eerik). He has furthered his education with Virgilijus Noreika (1995–97) and Heidy Tamme (2000–03, musical theatre singing). Since 1990, he sings in the chorus of Estonian National Opera, including solo parts. He has also performed in the productions of Vanemuine Theatre, Von Krahl Theatre and Smithbridge Production. He has sung in the ensemble Operetta Scretta and has hosted together with Triin Ella popular radio shows “The Magical Power of Melody”, “Nostalgia”. He is the author of Vikerraadio program “Meloodika”.

Jaak Jõekallas is also the author of the biography “The Unforgettable Miliza Korjus” (2012, Pegasus) and together with Marvi Taggo the author of “Estoonlased Masked and Unmasked, Estonian National Opera, 2017) and “Kinostalgia. Under the Spell of Movie Stars” (2018, Hea Lugu) as well as articles for various publications. His hobbies include collecting the autographed photos of musicians, film stars, politicians and athletes.
