
Marie Lambert-Le Bihan

Marie Lambert-Le Bihan is a stage director and lighting designer. She has recently worked on the plays “Eden”, “Mon Amant de Saint-Jean” and “Molière et ses musiques”. Recent projects also include Puccini’s “Le Villi” in Toulouse and Donizetti’s “La Fille du regiment” in Liège (both stage and lighting design), Lorca’s “The House of Bernarda Alba” in Tenerife (lighting design). She also staged Leoncavallo’s “Zazà” at Opera Holland Park, Poulenc’s “The Human Voice” at the Buxton Festival and was the associate director on Puccini’s “Madama Butterfly” at La Monnaie in Brussels. She was playwright on “The Rain”, a virtual reality film by HeeWon Lee, on “Entropy”, a scientific conference with Dopplereffekt, and on projects by Anne-James Chaton.
She has worked closely with Piero Faggioni and David McVicar. She staged the revivals of Verdi’s “La traviata” (Barcelona, Madrid, Scottish Opera), Mozart’s “La Clemenza di Tito” (Toulouse, Marseille, Chicago, Barcelona), Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg” (Chicago, San Francisco), Bizet’s “Carmen” (Glyndebourne, Göteborg) and Giordano’s “Andrea Chénier” (Barcelona, London). She has also been an assistant director to Liliana Cavani, Alfredo Arias, Elijah Moshinsky, Micha Van Hoecke, Lee Blakeley and Chiara Muti.
She has worked at Teatro alla Scala, the Vienna State Opera, the Théâtre du Châtelet, the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, the Aix-en-Provence Festival, the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, the Ravenna Festival, the Welsh National Opera, as well as in Strasbourg, Lille, Tokyo, Bologna, Parma, Turin, Genoa, Montpellier, Bari, Palermo.
She translated d’Ormesson’s “Vent du soir” into Italian and Giannettini’s “L’uomo in bivio” into French. She is an active translator of exhibition catalogues, poetry reviews and opera librettos. Born in France and raised in Paris and England, she studied literature and theatre in Paris and Bologna before continuing her training at Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
