EDUCATION AND WORK
Timothy Richards studied at the Royal Northern College of Music Manchester in the UK and as a student won the Towyn Roberts Scholarship at the Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales, one of his country’s most prestigious singing competitions. Soon after graduating Timothy made his professional operatic debut in 1998 as Alfredo in “La traviata” for Welsh National Opera. His engagement as the Italian tenor in “Der Rosenkavalier” at the Semperoper Dresden in 1999 marked the beginning of a long and successful association with the opera house which included his debut as Rodolfo in “La bohème” the following year to great critical acclaim. Since then, Timothy Richards has appeared at Semperoper Dresden, Staatsoper Berlin, Gran Teatre del Liceu Barcelona, National Opera Oslo, Royal Danish Opera Copenhagen, Grand Opera Poznan, Glyndebourne Oper, English National Opera, Komische Oper Berlin, Staatsoper Leipzig, Staatsoper Stuttgart, the Spoleto Festival in Italy,  Albert Hall London, Musikverein in Vienna, and at many other opera houses and Festivals throughout Europe.
