On 15 September the Estonia Concert Hall will host a special joint concert, “Bridge of Song”, bringing together Chamber Choir Manila from the Philippines and the Estonian National Opera Boys’ Choir. The programme features choral music from Estonia, the Philippines and around the world.
Chamber Choir Manila was founded in 1992 by renowned Filipino choral conductor and educator Professor Fidel Calalang Jr. and has since grown into one of the Philippines’ most distinguished church choirs.
Under the musical direction of Anthony G. Villanueva, Kammerchor Manila has received numerous international accolades. Among its most notable achievements are the Choir of the World title and the Pavarotti Trophy at the 2023 Llangollen International Musical Eisteddfod in Wales, the Grand Prize at the International Habaneras and Polyphony Competition in Torrevieja, Spain, and Third Prize at the Seghizzi International Choral Singing Competition in Italy. The choir has also received the Ani ng Dangal Award from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts of the Philippines on three occasions. In 2026, Kammerchor Manila will once again represent the Philippines on European stages, bringing Filipino music, culture and the country’s rich choral tradition to audiences across Europe. Their tour celebrates artistic excellence as well as the friendships that music can create across cultures.
“Bridge of Song” brings together two distinct cultural traditions through the universal language of music.
