International Opera Day

On October 24, 2024

On October 25th, on the birthdays of Georges Bizet and Johann Strauss II we celebrate the International Opera Day!

On Opera Day, the positive impact and value of opera on society are highlighted worldwide. Just as sports shape a healthy body, the fine arts nurture a healthy mind.

This year's International Opera Day is dedicated to recognising Italy's singing tradition as part of UNESCO's Intangible Cultural Heritage. The theme for the 2024 Opera Day is Benvenuti all'opera—Welcome to the Opera!

At the Estonian National Opera, the following events will take place:

  • Open Opera House tours
  • A glimpse into the world of opera with "How to Understand Opera “Madama Butterfly”" (sold out)
  • A performance of Giacomo Puccini's opera “Madama Butterfly

Additionally, on International Opera Day, tickets for all Italian operas in the current season's repertoire—Puccini's “Madama Butterfly”, Verdi's “Il trovatore”, Donizetti's “Don Pasquale”, and Verdi's “Giovanna d’Arco—will be 20% off!

Discount tickets can be bought on the website of the Estonian National Opera, at Piletimaailm and Piletilev sales points and at the box office in the opera house. To purchase, you must select the discount ooperipäev and enter the code estonia. The discount does not apply to previously booked tickets and different discounts cannot be combined.

Welcome to the opera!
